Irit Kornblit
Irit Kornblit is a PhD student at the French Department in Bar Ilan University, Israel. Originally from Belgium, Irit completed her B.A and M.A studies in French Culture & Language at that same university before departing to Buenos Aires, Argentina, where for the next four years she studies semiotics and culturology at the UBA's Communication Department. Back in Israel, she tries to conjugate her family obligations (mother to three young children) with her PhD thesis which, in light of the public debates on identity crisis, both in France and in Europe, in the context of globalization, multiculturalism and postmodernism, examines the identity discourse of the French governement and the European Union, focusing primarily on the use of metaphor and denominations for constructing a collective cultural identity in the social imaginary.
