Jérôme Bourdon

Jerome Bourdon is professor at the Department of Communications at Tel Aviv University and associate researcher with the Center for the Sociology of Innovation (CNRS/Ecole des Mines) in Paris.
He was a senior researcher with the Institut National de l'Audiovisuel from 1983 to 1997. He holds a PhD in contemporary history (Institut d'études politiques, 1988), a BA in law, a pre-doctoral thesis in linguistics and semiotics (Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales), and is a graduate from the Paris Institut d'études politiques.
He has worked on the history of television in France and Europe, on the sociology of media professionals, on the semiology of television genres, and on the relations between collective memory and the media (press, cinema, television).
His present research focuses on the coverage of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in the Western media, and on the global history of television.
