This lecture will address the old question of whether psychoanalysis is a science or a pseudo-science based on its practice and not based on its scientific logic.  My argument will concentrate on three points:

1. To overcome the fruitless quarrel between constructivism and realism I will suggest preparation as procedure to isolate
the epistemic object of psychoanalysis.

 

2. I will argue for the differentiation between  psychoanalytic insight and  psychoanalytic knowledge.

 

3. I will suggest that psychoanalytic knowledge is  produce by medial  transportation  (Friedrich Kittler), especially at the boundaries of the oral speech and  the written text.
