David Papineau (King’s College London), Causation as Thermodynamic Phenomenon
Monday, November 4th, 18:00 PM
Gilamn Building, Hall 449
Chair: Menachem Fisch
David Papineau will argue that causation is not constituted by fundamental physical pushes, but is rather a macroscopic phenomenon akin to the increase of entropy. As well as defending this view by reference to recent probabilistic approaches to causation, he will explore some of its implications for physicalist reductionism in the philosophy of mind and elsewhere.”
