ד"ר סימון פ. סילברמן המנוח העניק למכון כהן קתדרה מיוחדת על מנת לאפשר למכון להזמין בכל שנה חוקר אורח בעל-שם שישתתף בפעילות המכון ויעשיר אותה. החוקרים האורחים המגיעים למכון במסגרת קתדרת סילברמן מגיעים בד"כ לתקופה של ששה שבועות, מלמדים ומדריכים סטודנטים וחוקרים בתחומים שצוות המכון אינו מכסה בדרך כלל.
פרופ' ברנארד כהן המנוח היה החוקר האורח הראשון שהגיע למכון במסגרת קתדרת סילברמן, בשנת 1984. מאז ועד היום נהנה המכון מביקוריהם של חוקרים מובילים רבים. הרשימה שלהלן מציגה אותם בסדר אלפביתי:
